Flanders installs 154 megawatt peak in the first 10 months of 2018

According to the reports Flemish Energy Agency (VEA), Flanders installed 154 megawatt peak solar panels in the first 10 months of this calendar year.

Earlier it was announced that Flanders installed around 110 megawatt peak solar panels up to and including August this year. This means that 44 megawatts peak of solar panels have been installed in September and October.

In 2017, 42,875 installations were delivered in Flanders. This year, 34,584 new installations have been realized so far. The record year for Flanders is still 2011, when 83,820 PV-installations were added.

The 5 municipalities that have installed most solar panels so far in 2018:

  1. Gent – 3.51 megawatt peak
  2. Kortrijk – 3.32 megawatt peak
  3. Bruges – 2.58 megawatt peak
  4. Antwerp – 2.41 megawatt peak
  5. Aalst – 1.87 megawatt peak

In total, according to the VEA, Flanders now has 2,174 megawatt peak of solar panels. The goal for 2020 is to have 3,700 megawatt peak installed.
