JinkoSolar announces strategic developments with new 56GW production site

JinkoSolar, a leader in solar panel manufacturing, has just announced the construction of a new production site in Shanxi province. This new factory will include a production capacity of 56GW and focus entirely on the production of N-type wafers, cells and solar panels.

The size of the production site allows more work to be carried out at the same location and reduces the need for transportation between sites. This gives JinkoSolar more control over the entire chain and improves the traceability and transparency of the production chain. There is full commitment to sustainable production to minimize CO2 emissions.

The establishment of this new plant coincides with the sale of Jinko’s production site in the Xinjiang region. Several solar panel manufacturers were in disrepute last year for possible forced labour in this region. JinkoSolar has now found a buyer for this production site. In the process, all shares will be transferred to the new buyer and JinkoSolar will no longer have a stake in this production site.

The new production site in the Shanxi region will be built in four phases. The first two phases are expected to be completed in Q2 2024, at which point solar panel production can start. When construction is fully completed, JinkoSolar will have the largest vertically integrated N-type production park in the world.
